In Brief

The Challenge

The UniHealth project uses a transdisciplinary approach featuring clinician, microbiology and healthcare information system expertise to develop a platform to deliver a digital dashboard warning system service for the entire University. This will allow rapid response and awareness of any infectious threats, provide guidance, and allow the University community to carry out its day-to-day business.

The Solution

Our aim is to provide an online secure digital platform, UniHealth, which will allow students and staff to self-report illness and be aware of current infectious threats on campus. This UniHealth platform will allow participants (and non-participants) to be aware of any infectious threats, such as SARS-CoV-2 or Influenza, on campus via a UniHealth dashboard. The platform will involve a bespoke app with a symptom checker, self-reported antigen testing and clinical nurse support to aid any symptomatic participants. Positive tests (symptomatic) will be confirmed by the microbiology lab in UCC using molecular methods in addition to sampling campus wastewater for potential infectious risks. A live dashboard displaying campus infectious threats will be available via the app and on the campus website.
