Professor Linda Doyle, Director of CONNECT and Professor of Engineering & the Arts at Trinity College Dublin, has been named among “Ireland’s Champions of EU Research” by Enterprise Ireland in recognition of her leadership of the EDGE postdoctoral training and development programme which secured €6m in Horizon 2020 funding last year.

Three other CONNECT researchers were also honoured at a special ceremony at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin: Dr Alan Davy (TSSG at WIT), Dr Francesco Pilla (UCD) and Dr Kafil M. Razeeb (UCC/Tyndall National Institute).

Speaking about her award, Professor Linda Doyle said:

The EDGE success has been a team effort. Three Science Foundation Ireland research centres – CONNECT, AMBER and ADAPT – have worked together to prepare this new programme which will help to make Ireland a global hub for ICT research. The successful EDGE Fellows will strengthen our existing research groups and provide new collaboration opportunities with research institutes internationally. By offering industry secondment opportunities, EDGE will also further strengthen the relationship between industry and Irish research.

“I want to acknowledge the vital role played by the research programme officers: Ms Emma Leahy (AMBER), Dr Maire Brophy (ADAPT) and Dr Raquel Harper (CONNECT). They conceived, developed and enabled this programme and I want to congratulate them for their hard work in securing Trinity’s largest H2020 grant to date.”
