SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence

"Advances in AI are under-pinning many societal and industrial developments and skilled postdoctoral researchers are needed to understand, develop and drive the next technologies. The CRT-AI will cover topics such as Personalisation; Optimisation and Constraint Programming; Natural Language Processing; Machine Learning; Visual Media Processing; Ethics of Data Analytics and Fair, Accountable and Transparent AI."
Dr Suzanne Little, SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence

The SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence brings together supervisors working across the full spectrum of AI techniques - from knowledge representation and reasoning, machine learning, data mining, computer vision, natural language processing, optimisation and decision-making, robotics, and autonomy - with the ambition to develop into a truly national initiative across the full third-level sector.

The centre focuses strongly on the development of AI solutions in domains such as smart buildings, mobility and transportation, autonomous vehicles, public service delivery, manufacturing, enterprise, cybersecurity, climate change and environment, agriculture, marine, food production, and natural resources.

“Artificial intelligence is becoming one of the most important and disruptive technologies in the world today. The SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence will ensure that students have the technical skills required to innovate at the cutting edge of this field, that they are prepared to deal with the ethical challenges posed by the technology, and can work seamlessly in team-based industrial settings.”
