Overview

During 2019, SFI delivered significant achievements, including the refunding of six SFI Research Centres following rigorous international peer review, and the establishment of the SFI Centres for Research Training. Both programmes involve collaboration and participation from leading researchers across all of Ireland’s Higher Education Institutes and Industry, maximising efficiency and providing the best training and research experience. In 2019, SFI also successfully rolled out Challenge based funding, through the SFI Future Innovator Prize programme. The SFI Frontiers for the Future Programme provided a boost for individual-led research. It was designed to encourage more successful applications from female researchers and emerging investigators applying to SFI for the first time, as well as from established investigators.
