Science Week 2019 - Tree Planting Initiative
Science Foundation Ireland in partnership with Coillte are supporting the national effort to plant 440 million trees by 2040. During Science Week 2019, organisations nationwide will be planting 30,000 saplings, provided by Coillte.
In conjunction with the Tree Council of Ireland and Easy Treesie, there will be tree planting events taking place across the country , where the public can find out what trees do for our environment, which trees suit the Irish ecosystem the best and how you can plant your own trees at home.

Tree Planting Resources
Planting the right tree in the right place is the most important decision facing tree growers. Correct matching of species with sites and soils ensures that trees are growing in the right environment and will perform well with minimum maintenance. Mistakes made in species selection will result in poor growth performance and eventual losses, no matter how well trees are maintained.
